EVGA - GeForce 8400 GS 512MB DDR2 PCI Graphics Card

How well will this card work on an AMD Athlon XP processor, with the RAM updated to 1.258 GB? My laptop doesn't play BFBC2 without lagging all the time so I'm trying to up grade an old desk top comp to play on. I'm sure it may still lag every once in a while but I can't afford a new system and don NOT want to spend very much on the old desk top. Also, are there any other cheap cares that may work as well?

Is there anything that I can do to my laptop to make it perform better? It's a Vista system with a AMD Turion X2, GeForce 8200 vid card, and 3G RAM. I run Smart Close and try to have nothing else running but the game.

You will lag a lot on that card. I would suggest anything above gtx 275.

dosnt matter what card you buy, the game needs at least a dual core at 2ghz to run and from what i can see u are only running a single core.
Might be wrong but i tried to run the game on a P4 3.0 ghz cpu and did not work

    1. Minimum and Recommended PC Configurations
    --------------------------------------------
Battlefield: Bad Company™ 2 requires at least the following minimum configuration:
Operating System Windows XP (SP3), Windows Vista (SP2), Windows 7
    Processor Pentium D, 3.0GHz / Core 2 Duo, 2.0GHz / Athlon 64 X2
    Memory 2GB RAM
Video Card Video card must be 256MB or more and contain these chipsets or better: NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GT ; ATI X1900. Laptop versions of these chipsets may work but are not supported. Updates to your video and sound card drivers may be required.
HDD Space 15GB for Digital Download Version, 10GB for Disc Version
DVD Drive 8x DVD Drive or greater
Soundcard Soundcard with DirectX 9.0c compatibility
    DirectX DirectX 9.0c

I found a good deal on a Nvidia 9400 1 GB. How will the comp handle that?

You'll need to run the game in lowest possible resolution/settings.

Really man, if you want to play the newest games you shouldn't be going for cards that were released four years earlier... Go for a gtX anyhting

Well I bought a 1 GB GeForce card and installed it. The graphics for the comp are great now and Bad Company actually starts up. Still can't play though so I am going to just do a total upgrade on this thing. (new motherboard and quad core processor. I would really love a cd copy of windows 7, or just at least something to get it started, if anyone has a boot disk I can buy.
