    GTA IV upgrade

Alright so I have a computer meeting the minimum settings but for recommended it says this.

Recommended: Intel Core 2 Quad 2.4GHz, AMD Phenom X3 2.1GHz
    You Have: 2 processors running - Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E7300 @ 2.66GHz

How much would an upgrade to this be?

    My specs

    CPU: Above
    CPU Speed Recommended: 2.4 GHz
    You Have: 2.67 GHz
    System RAM Recommended: 2.5 GB
    You Have: 3.2 GB
    Operating System
Recommended: Windows Vista - Service Pack 1 / XP - Service Pack 3
You Have: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition (Build Service Pack 22600)
    Video CardRecommended: 512MB NVIDIA 8600+ / 512MB ATI 3870+
You Have: ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series (ATI Radeon Graphics Processor (0x9440))
Video Card Features - Minimum attributes of your Video Card

    Video RAM: Required - 512 MB , You have - 1.0 GB
Video Card 3D Acceleration: Required - Yes , You have - Yes
Video HW Transform & Lighting: Required - Yes , You have - Yes
    Vertex Shader Ver.: Required - 3.0 , You have - 3.0
    Pixel Shader Ver.: Required - 3.0 , You have - 3.0

BTW: I'm 13, really big priced computer probably not within my budget.
But either way i'd like to know the price.

Also, what component would I be replacing? (etc, video card, tower, ram...)

Ok first off if you took those recommendations off of canirunit its garbage. They just scan the components not your actual gaming ability. It said my computer would fail crysis lol i have a quad core with 4GB of ram with 8800GTS 512. You dont have to meet the specifications, like you could get a quad with 2.33ghz not 2.4 its not that precise. But that upgrade is gonna be costly the cheapest quad core is 160 dollars from newegg.

as for video card cheap wise a 4770 isn't a bad idea or 4870 for 124 dollars off of newegg. Id recommend the 4870.

cheapest quad core is the Q8200:

But then again the cpu is intel do you have amd or an intel motherboard, because amd quads are very inexpensive and thats a good thing.

Also a side note is go to http://www.yougamers.com and search for gta IV and do their gaming test they actually scan your computer and give you a score. Its based off of the 3dmark engine.

So with that Quad core GTA IV would run A LOT better then it would now?
Also my video card I think is fine. ATI RADEON HD 4870.

Yeah about Crysis... it said I can run Crysis really fast yet I can't play GTA IV? Whats up with that.

GTAIV is a MAJOR CPU whore, this is where i7 comes in handy but then you'd need a new motherboard/ram/CPU.

You definitely need a quad core, possibly get an aftermarket cooler and overclock it if you know how.

Not a huge upgrade, just basically a new Cpu. 160 bucks for a 2.33ghz one, then again a cpu cooler so you can overclock. So yea he is right. But do you have an AMD processor or Intel?
